LEGO will be holding its first-ever convention later this month, a virtual event which will be available to livestream for free.
The company's official Twitter shared the news with a video listing some of the content planned for the event. "It’s our first EVER official #LEGOCON! Join us online on 26 June for an epic show, live from LEGO House!"
The virtual convention will be held on June 26 at 12pm EST, and will run for 90 minutes with the live stream available to watch afterward. LEGO's headquarters in Billund, Denmark -- also known as The Home of the Brick -- will host the stream.
LEGO's official website has more information about the show, promising "live entertainment, world-first reveals, behind-the-scenes access and never-tried-before build attempts," as well as a few surprises and "some very special guests." Voting and community interaction, such as sharing personal builds, is also part of the plan.
In recent years, LEGO has become known for its tie-in products, with video games and movies featuring the "minifig" characters still holding their popularity. However, the toy has a rich history beyond modern entertainment, as fans of all ages have long been using the colorful bricks to create impressive art and sculpture.
